Simple Search :

The « Simple Search » works like the « Advanced Search »,

  • by putting the searched words in the « All following wordsfield »,
  • by activating the option : « include inflected forms »,
  • by desabling the option : « take accents into account »,
  • by choosing the display scope : « the same line of the same verse »,
  • by choosing the display type : « the same group of verses ».

See below in "Advanced Search" for details.

Advanced Search  :

The “Advanced Search” includes the following fields/options: :

   All the following words:

  • All words entered will be searched for in the Found Message. If a word is missing from the search scope (see criteria « Search in », the verse will not be selected.
  • The criteria « Include inflected forms » and « take accents into account » are taken into account.
  • A series of very common words (see below) are not taken into account, for performance reasons.
  • Any special characters will not be retained in the search (quotation marks, apostrophes, commas, periods, etc.)

At least one of the following words:

  • At least one of the following words must be present in the search area (see criteria « Search in » for the verse to be selected.
  • The criteria « Include inflected forms » and « take accents into account » are taken into account.

  • It is possible to search for the beginning of a word by adding a % at the end, to obtain a result that includes all words beginning with it. For example, typing blind% in this field will produce a result that will automatically search for all words beginning with blind%, i.e. blind, blinded, blindfold, blindly, blindness which will automatically appear in the list of words in this field in the search result. Example.

  • A series of very common words (see below) are not taken into account, for performance reasons.
  • Any special characters will not be retained in the search (quotation marks, apostrophes, commas, periods, etc.)

  • ATTENTION: If no words are specified in the « All following words » and « This exact expression  », the maximum number of words in this field is limited to 7 to avoid overloading the database with a query that could potentially return too many verses. In this case, please split your search.
  • Furthermore, a word with a % at the end must have at least 3 positions before the % (example ave%), even if there are other criteria (like a word in «All following words »).
  • Finally, only one word with a % at the end is allowed and it must be put in the last position.

   None of the following words:

  • None of the following words must be present within the search scope (see « Search in »), the verse (or group of verses) for the verse to be selected.
  • The criteria « Include inflected forms » and « take accents into account » are taken into account.
  • A series of very common words (see below) are not taken into account, for performance reasons.
  • Any special characters will not be retained in the search (quotation marks, apostrophes, commas, periods, etc.)

   This exact expression:

  • The following exact phrase must be found in the same line of the same verse for it to be selected.
  • The criteria « Include inflected forms » and « take accents into account » are NOT taken into account.
  • Any special characters will not be retained in the search (quotation marks, apostrophes, commas, periods, etc.)

   Search in (search scope):

This option allows you to define the search scope for multiple words

If only one word is searched, this option will have no effect.

The different levels, which are included successively, are as follows :

  • «the same line of the same verse» : By "line" we mean a series of characters between a line start and a line break. This level is the one chosen by default.
  • «the same verse» : A verse can be composed of one or more lines. By "verse" we mean only the left, right or central part of verses bearing the same number.
  • «verses with the same number» : Most often, there are two verses with the same number, one on the left and one on the right (called "prime", with an apostrophe '), and sometimes one below in the center (called "second", with quotation marks ").
  • «the same group of verses» : Sometimes, some verses, although bearing successive numbers, constitute a single semantic unit (or "group of verses"). If there is no semantic relationship between two consecutive verses, a "group" is reduced to verses bearing the same number.

These different scopes allow you to define a broader field than a single line in a given verse if desired. For example, if the "same group of verses" option is chosen, this allows you to find pairs of words where the first is found, say, in verse 1 and the second in verse 2, as long as verses 1 and 2 are part of the same semantic unit.

   Display:

This option allows you to define the display scope of search results.

Les différents niveaux, qui s'incluent successivement, sont les suivants :

  • «the same line of the same verse» : By "line" we mean a series of characters between a line start and a line break.
This level is the one chosen by default.
  • These different options allow you to choose the type of display you want, the advantage of the "same group of verses" level being that it is much more readable but on the other hand also "uses" more space to display the result.

Please note that the display level must be equal to or higher than the search level. In other words, if you choose to search in "verses with the same number," you cannot request the display of "the same verse." If this were the case, the display level would be aligned with the search level, and a message at the top of the page would indicate this adjustment.

   Include inflected forms:

  • If enabled, this option will force the search to include all inflected forms of a word entered under its "root".
  • For example, if the word is the verb "be," the search will include all conjugated forms of the verb, but it will not if you type a conjugated form like "are". In this case, the search will be limited to the conjugated form only.
  • Another example: if the word is "go," the search will also include "goes," "gone," and "going." But if you type "gone," only that word will be searched for.
  • Some "bridges" have been added, for example to allow you to search for the word "Kris" when you type "Christ" (and vice versa) because the author used one for the other in the first 12 books of The Found Message.
  • This criterion applies to "All of the following words", "At least one of the following words", "None of the following words" but does not apply to "This exact expression" ..
  • Enabled by default.

   Take accents into account:

  • Obviously, this option is really only useful for the few French words still present in the English version of the Message Rediscovered
  • If enabled, this option will force the search to take into account the accents of the words entered and the words searched for, otherwise it will act as if they do not exist.
  • For example, if the option is enabled, if the searched word is "unité", the search will be limited to only that word.
  • But if the option is not activated, the search will be done on "unité" and on "unite", whether we typed "unité" or "unite" as the search word.
  • CeThis criterion applies to "All of the following words", "At least one of the following words", "None of the following words" but does not apply to "This exact expression".
  • Disable by default.

   List of unindexed words:

  • For performance reasons of the concordance search engine, a series of very common words have been removed.
  • If one of these words is entered in one of the fields " All of the following words ", " At least one of the following words ", " None of the following words ", it will be automatically removed and a message at the top of the page will indicate their removal from the list of searched words
  • The "This exact expression" field does not remove these words. This can therefore be a way to select them if necessary, but if you only type words from the list below in this field, you will then need to enter at least one indexed word in one of the first two fields (" All the following words ", " At least one of the following words ") for the search to take place
  • For your information, not indexing words allows you to divide the number of words to be indexed almost by 2.
  • Here is the list of these unindexed words:

and, as, but, by, d, did, do, for, from, has, he, his, if, in, is, it, let, ll, my, no, not, of, oh, on, or, our, shall, so, that, the, their, them, they, this, to, us, ve, we, who

Restrictions on search possibilities. Possible messages:

  • Warning: The maximum number of rows (MaxRowAllowed=XXXX) found has been moved: YYYY. => A limit is set to the number of rows a query can retrieve from the database to avoid saturating it. This usually happens with a large number of words in the "At least one of the following words" field. Words must be removed until the query is validated and produces a result.
